September TBR Is Here!
This is my wish-list of books to get through this month. It’s highly ambitious considering the schedule I have coming up, and the lingering books left over that didn’t get read from my July + August TBR piles. But NONETHELESS, these are all teed up for action this month!
If this summer has taught me one thing, it’s how to be more patient with myself when it comes to my reading and my relationship with this community. The truth is, things feel like they move so fast on here, and suddenly everyone is hyping a book and I don’t want to miss out, but OMG I have 7 other books I also want to read, and I have a insane work schedule but if I don’t keep up on all the trends will I lose my credibility as a blogger/reviewer and...... You know. Y’all see it, I’m sure. Maybe some of you feel it, feel the pressure to KEEP UP OR ELSE. I’m here to tell you - babe, it’s gonna be OK.
Partway through the summer I just let it go. I just accepted reality and let myself go with the flow. I read as much as I could. I fell a little behind on reviews and my TBR. I made all my commitments. I stopped watching numbers. I started thinking what kind of partnerships I wanted to pursue for the fall. I was OK. It was OK. It is OK.
And now it’s transitioning to autumn and I’m more than OK. I’m excited to slow down later this season. I’m excited to have time to read more, and interact with y’all more. I’m excited to write more. Mostly I’m confident in knowing that no matter how it all falls into place, it will be OK. Take this as your seasonal reminder that it is SO VERY OK to not be surgically attached to this community at every turn. Take time for you. Take time to be grounded in your real life present. Take time to read what you want, when you want, regardless of trends or hype or chatter. And then, luxuriate in being better than OK.
Happy Monday friends. I hope y’all are ready to tackle this new month with beautiful stories and cozy places to read them. xx
