The Suspect by Fiona Barton
Today is what I like to call Bonus Sunday. Also known as Bonus Sock Sunday in my land. 😂
Guys, I just have to say, I burned through this book and I LOVED IT. @figbarton NEVER fails to amaze me with her work. I loved the pace, the mystery, the tension, the complicated characters. I loved it all. 📖💙
I love that I get to revisit my favorite characters every time I pick up one of Fiona's books - I love Kate as a lead female character. She's human and flawed, while still being brilliant, kick ass and incredible at her job. It's incredibly satisfying to watch her continue to grow as a character, and (without spoiler) I actually loved seeing her grapple with difficult choices relating to her family in this book. It grounds her even more as a character.
In typical Barton fashion, this story was quick paced and impossible to stop reading once you start. I loved that she moved the perspective from character to character, letting little clues trickle out of what happened to the girls in Thailand. I won't say much more, as no one wants a spoiler to their thriller, but I will say that this was the exact right amount of twists and turns to keep me totally engrossed, and not rolling my eyes.
Completely brilliant, as always. I could not recommend this one enough!
QOTD: Whats been your favourite part of this long weekend (or normal Monday if it wasn’t a long weekend for you)? 📖
Happy Bonus Sunday! 😂💜😂
