This Will Only Hurt A Little by Busy Philipps
The other day I had posted about how much I enjoy celebrity memoirs. I then proceeded to read @busyphilipps memoir, This Will Only Hurt A Little which completely reinforced all the reasons I LOVE a celebrity memoir.
I loved this book. This was a book that I savored and enjoyed and moseyed through over several cups of coffee. I am a Busy fan and this entirely raw, honest, unflinching look into her life has only increased that. How can you not love a celebrity that is wildly open about the realities (and many not so shiny sides) of celebrity?
As with any person, I just didn’t realize how wild Busy’s life really has been. The incredible challenges she has faced both personally and professionally. The fact that she has not come out unscathed, but rather, stronger for having survived them. She is truly a remarkable woman, and all the more for sharing her life, her pain, her happiness, her failures and her successes all with equal, brutal honesty.
My favorite part of this particular book is how much it felt like sitting down with an old friend and catching up. Which is going to be hella awkward if I ever get the chance to meet Busy, as clearly I now feel like we’re best friends.
Honestly though, this was such an enjoyable, refreshing and easy read. I would, without question, recommend this to you my friends, as some lovely afternoon reading that is so terrifically satisfying.
QOTD: What was the last book that you (happily) lingered over, rather than rushing through? I’m a fast reader, but there is something to be said for a book you can savor!
Happy humpday friends!
