Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I write about books, food, wine and travel.

Come hang out with me.

The Underdog

The Underdog

I have been busy busy getting a thank you giveaway together over on Instagram (it launches tomorrow!), getting caught up on reviews, and prepping for a blog tour, which are all things that make me a very happy bookworm.

Today, I am also sharing two new books that I am VERY excited to be reading this month. Thank you to @lizclong07 & @orionbooksfor sharing copies with me, I can’t wait to dive in!!! #partner #freebooks

Getting to partner with publishers and authors to read and review books is such an enormous privilege - I am so grateful to be able to participate in this on a regular basis.  And even more so - one thing that I love is getting to work with the smaller, up and coming authors. These are the underdogs if you will - this might be their first book, they might not have a well-known name yet, they likely have a smaller marketing budget and they are just finding their fan base.  But they have worked hard to get this piece of their heart into the world, and helping them to expand their platform to launch their story is such a pleasure.

It has also been how I have found some of my very favorite books - books I otherwise might not have ever read. In much the same way that I love shopping local and supporting small businesses, there is something terrific about talking to an author who is about to publish their first book, or who might be self-published, or who is out there pounding the pavement to promote their work on social media, and having their enthusiasm and passion be so contagious.  It is so much fun getting a chance to be one of their first readers and to share their work with my bookworm friends.  It feels a little like your a part of a bookish tribe - bookworms supporting bookworms to make magic happen.

Not in any way to take away from more established writers - who I also adore working with, and who I am equally grateful to, for trusting me with reviewing their work - but simply to served as a reminder that when you come across someone out there who is brand new and shiny in our book community, to give them a moment of kindness, and support them with something as simple as a follow, like, comment or retweet.  Those little acts of support grow in big ways.

Happy Wednesday friends!
