February TBR Gains
This afternoon I swung by the bookstore to grab my copy of The Hiding Place, which is the February @northernlightsreads pick (Pro Tip: Running a Book Club is an excellent reason to buy books....😂) and of course, while my PLAN was to only grab that ONE BOOK, my plan, naturally, was destined to fail. 📚
Within seconds I noticed that The Last Black Unicorn was out in paperback, which I have been impatiently waiting for because I LOVE @tiffanyhaddish - she is so frigging funny and I cannot wait to dive in. I honestly love when a celebrity writes their own memoir, just because I am endlessly curious about the inner workings of celebrity life. And Hollywood life. And it is NEVER DISAPPOINTING. This book is also terrific because I want to do a better job this year of mixing up my genres consistently - I don’t want to find myself reading only thrillers for weeks on end, mostly because it lands with me getting bored. Therefore, this book is the perfect memoir mix up for my current February TBR.
Three seconds after my tango with Tiffany, I saw On The Come Up by @angiethomas which I have been impatiently awaiting since the moment I finished The Hate U Give. PLUS this is a signed first edition. PLUS I had to have this (and read this) before I get to see Angie speak at an event here later this month (*insert ridiculous fangirling here*) which meant this had to come home with me. I was admittedly late to the game reading THUG, but lo and behold, when I did read it I was 100% completely captivated by it. I have talked endlessly about this book, not to mention it was in my Top 10 Reads of 2018. If you haven’t read it yet, again I implore you, READ IT. Of course then you will also be hooked and need to read On The Come Up. Its a good problem to have.
BUT! To my credit I stopped myself there and untangled myself from that store before more buying damage could be done. Soooooo.....basically I am a very responsible adult who should be applauded for my buying self restraint. 😂
So here we are. New books to add to my never ending stack of books. But I’m not mad about it. I’m just gonna put my phone down now, as I have important reading to do. 😘
Happy humpday friends! ❤️
