HAPPY CANADA DAY!
I am celebrating my Canada Day with these very amazing new pineapple socks, a stack of books and (as of now) some festive, celebration ceasers. Because for all the reasons I am grateful to be Canadian, unlimited, unrestricted access to ceasers is my top reason. Vinny on the other hand, just wants his maple leaf shaped cookie. 😂😂😂
Truly though - I am so happy, and proud to be Canadian. We are not perfect as a country, but we have some really spectacular things going for us. This has never been more true than lately with the political landscape, and constant, unrelenting tragedy happening with our neighbors south of the border. Lately there has not been a day that has gone by where I have not taken a moment, while scrolling through news headlines, and thought to myself how grateful I am to be Canadian.
Don't get me wrong - I don't think we are without our faults. Our history has proven that we too are capable of horrific things. However, I feel that we are trying to be better. It won't happen, and cannot happen overnight, but every small step towards improvement counts for something.
Canada Day for me, is a day to reflect on how we are working to get better, and to be grateful for all the things we have gotten right. And to celebrate, loudly, all the wonderful things that make us so unique, quirky and terrifically ourselves (poutine, Conner McDavid, toques, ceasers and saying sorry included).
To all my fellow Canadian book bloggers - sending you all the love and a ceaser cheers!
QOTD: What are you grateful for today? Need not be Canadian to play along. 😉
Have a WONDERFUL Sunday!
