A Sock Sunday TBR Interuption

A Sock Sunday TBR Interuption

I am interrupting my own regularly scheduled February TBR to jump into this new one from @figbarton which I have been impatiently awaiting for months and of which, I recently acquired my own copy. Jumping immediately in is 100% required. 📖☕️

I also finished Blood Echo by Christopher Rice yesterday, and it was AWESOME! Not shockingly, I loved this book. Christopher just does an unbelievable job of creating this fictional world, that I can't help but falling right into the story. Not to mention, Charlotte is the ultimate female badass lead character; I ADORE the fact that this series gives all of the power to this wonderfully human, flawed and slightly broken character, and then let's her be a badass who kicks ass with it, rather than make her neurotic.

There is something all the more interesting about reading a typical mystery/thriller when you throw in the slightly supernatural twist of Charlotte's new powers. I also love that this is a series, because honestly I can't get enough of Charlotte's ass kicking. Not to mention, its really satisfying to see the various characters develop and grow as the books move on.

I am also completely enamored with the fact that Christopher doesn't shy away from the gray area in his stories - there aren't black and white villains and good guys necessarily; there are definite bad guys, and then there are the people who are doing bad things to stop bad people, which kind of makes them good, but also......not always good. It keeps me as a reader guessing, and it also keeps me completely invested in seeing how close to the dark side the characters will tread.

This was such a quick read for me, as I really, really wanted to see what was going to happen, and just how twisted the plot would get. I devoured this book in a day - and I cannot WAIT to see what happens in book #3! Thank you Little Bird for sending me this copy!

QOTD: Do you guys read to a set TBR each month, or do you wing it? I’m somewhere in the middle. Like when one of your favourite authors has a new book out and then you immediately discard every other book around you. 😂

Happy #socksunday friends! The best part of today is knowing tomorrow the weekend will just keep....on.....going. Come chat with me about what your going to do with your extra day off! 📖☕️

Blood Echo Synopisis:

A conspiracy that promises bloodshed and the only woman who can stop it collide in the page-turning thriller by Christopher Rice, Amazon Charts bestselling author of Bone Music.

Kidnapped and raised by serial killers, Charlotte Rowe suffered an ordeal that made her infamous. Everyone in the world knew who she was. But no one in the world has any idea what she’s become…

Charlotte is an experiment. And a weapon. Enabled by a superpower drug, she’s partnered with a shadowy pharmaceutical company to hunt down and eliminate society’s most depraved human predators. But her latest mission goes off the rails in a horrifying way. Unsettled by her own capacity for violence, Charlotte wants some time to retreat so she can work on her new relationship with Luke, a sheriff’s deputy in the isolated Central California town she now calls home.

If only the threats hadn’t followed Charlotte there.

Something sinister is evolving in Altamira, California—a massive network of domestic terrorists with ties to Charlotte’s influential and corrupt employers. As a vast and explosive criminal conspiracy grows, the fate of Charlotte’s hometown hangs in the balance. With everyone she cares about in danger, Charlotte has no choice but to bring her powers home.

Charlotte Rowe has been triggered, and now she’ll have to take matters into her own powerful hands.
