Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I write about books, food, wine and travel.

Come hang out with me.

Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies

As a rule, when I am reading, I really hate being interrupted - it pulls me right out of the flow of the book, and I can find myself completely distracted from getting back into it.  But there is one interruption to my reading that doesn’t make me crazy, which is when Vinny brings me his toys to play. 🐶❤️

Vinny is my best buddy and my constant companion.  I got Vinny when I still lived in a small townhouse with no yard, but wanted a dog so badly.  I grew up on a huge acreage, and we always had dogs and cats around - I am an avid animal lover, I don't really feel complete without some furballs in my world.  Now I live on a big acreage once again, and Vinny makes use of every single corner of our yard - he is deeply under the impression that he is a 150 pound big dog.

Vinny and I hang out all the time.  He is a pretty independent guy, but he likes to be where the people are, so if I am sitting outside reading, he would prefer to hang out on the patio with me; if I am cooking dinner, he likes to sit directly below me to see what might fall into his mouth; if I am chilling on the couch watching a movie, he likes to destroy his latest toy next to me.  And of course, he sleeps with me - or to be more accurate - he likes to sleep with me, and also with some part of him touching me during the night.  I love him too much for life, so all of this flies in my house.

Some people would say that he is spoiled, and those people would be 100% correct - spoiled rotten to the core.  Honestly, I don't feel at all guilty about this, because while Vinny will be a chapter in my life, I am his WHOLE life, and I want to make sure that his WHOLE life is the best, happiest and most fun life that he could ever possibly have.

I’m so grateful that even though he is turning 10 this fall, he is still very much like a playful puppy, who is in excellent health (knock on wood). But he has a few more grey hairs now (which he feels make him look VERY distinguished) and that reminds me that he’s getting older even though he doesn’t act like it. So every single time this guy wants to play, no matter what else I’m doing, we play, and that will never change. He’s the boss.

QOTD: Do your pets rule the roost at your house? Send me pictures of your buddies!

Happy Friday from Vinny & I!
