The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
Happy #SockSundaybuddies!!! I’m enjoying this morning from the luxury of my camping bed, with my coffee and books and socks, and it is HEAVEN!
Today though, I want to talk to y’all about this new @ruthwarewriter book that’s about to be released this week. First off, thank you again to @simonschusterca for their good humour in my endless Twitter campaign to get ahold of this particular book - I am a MASSIVE Ruth Ware fan and I was DYING to read this.
And guys. I daresay it might be her BEST book yet.
Set in the Scottish Highlands, where Rowan Caine has taken on a seemingly too-good-to-be-true nannying job, with spectacular pay and the chance to live in a luxury “smart” home. Except Rowan is telling her story from prison - because a child is dead and no one believes she didn’t do it - but she didn’t.
Guyssssss - Ruth Ware is the undisputed QUEEN of writing atmospheric settings that draw you fully into her world. Every single thing that Rowan was experiencing as the smart house malfunctioned and her world started to crumble, I felt viscerally myself. Her tension was my tension. I COULD NOT set this book down.
Ruth writes wonderfully flawed, but relatable characters - I can’t explain exactly how she does it, but she’s phenomenal at letting her characters walk the grey area between making good & bad decisions & you are rooting for them nonetheless.
As always - I don’t offer even hints of spoilers for thrillers - you need to know only ONE THING - you need this book for your summer TBR, no questions asked. This is the EXACT perfect kind of reading to waste away a summer afternoon, and it will leave you reeling to the very. last. page.
@ruthwarewriter thank you for continuing to up the suspense game book after book & thank you for blowing my mind, just when I think I’ve got this genre figured. I cannot wait to see what is next. 5 HUGE 🌟 from me! xx
Have an amazing Sunday friends! Come tell me if this read is making your summer list!
