Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I write about books, food, wine and travel.

Come hang out with me.

Post Vacation Book Mail!

Post Vacation Book Mail!

The best part of coming home from vacation? Furball cuddles and book mail!!! πŸΆπŸ±πŸ“š

I live with three VERY cuddly creatures who have all been glued to me nonstop, day and night, since we got home. It is heaven. I love me some kitty and pup cuddles, even when that means I have Mittens ice cold kitty nose attached to my nose all night while he sleeps on my head (he needs to be face level with me while he sleeps because he’s just so weird. πŸ˜‚)

It’s all the sweeter, as our Diego kitty got very sick just before we left - is there anything worse than the day before you are set to travel and an emergency arises? That happened to us - the morning before we left we woke up to gross kitty surprises all over our house and a cat that was hiding in a closet, which is VERY out of character. I was immediately panicked - I know very well that animals will retreat when they are very ill and/or dying. One emergency trip to the vet, and every single blood and ultrasound test possible later, and we had a tentative diagnosis - irritable bowel syndrome. Yes. That is correct, my allergy ridden cat now has developed irritable bowels. πŸ˜‚

I am equal parts relieved and just left to shake my head. I am beyond grateful its not more serious (looking at you Big C) and happy that this can be managed with food and the right combination of oral drugs. I’m also grateful this is my beloved, super chill lump of a cat, who will begrudgingly, but casually, accept you stuffing tiny pills down his gullet every day.

I am happy to say Diego is now very much on the mend and feeling much more like his big lumpy self. We still have a few months of figuring out the right balance of meds for him, but I am over the moon that my boy has many years left in him. 🐱❀️

Outside of that, I came home to some WONDERFUL book mail which is rounding out the first 3 months of my reading year. I’m very excited for all 4 of these books, and cannot WAIT to dive right in. I really want to get back into the meat of those twisting and devious thrillers that I love just SO DAMN MUCH, and this stack is hitting the mark on that note. Many thanks to the tagged publishers for the copies - and of course, stay tuned for full reviews! πŸ“š

QOTD: What is your favourite part of coming home after travelling? Other than seeing my fur babies, I am always craving a ceaser (β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦), excited to check my mail and DYING to sleep in my own bed. πŸ“š

Happy Saturday friends! Let me know what your reading this weekend! Let’s be reading hermit buddies TOGETHER. πŸ˜‚
